POLSON – The next Resource Roundtable meeting is on May 13 at noon in the Lake County Health Department Conference Room. Lunch will be provided and the topic for the day is: “Community Profile-Violence and other crimes...how do we compare?” Join us and bring a friend.

POLSON — Heart to Heart will play for the Community Dance on Wednesday, May 13. 

POLSON — Come gather some wisdom from the experts at Delaney’s through their Seminar Series. Sessions are every Thursday through the spring season at 5:30 p.m. The sessions are free and open to the public. The session on Thursday, May 14 is titled: “Hanging Basket Care-Keep Them Beautiful All Summer.”

POLSON — “A Brief History of the Mission Mountains Wilderness” by Dr. Kari Gunderson, adjunct research professor in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana, will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next evening program on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. POLSON– On Thursday, May 14, Miracle of America Museum will show “To Hell and Back,” a 1955 feature length movie starring Audie Murphy as himself during his service in WWII. This film depicts his true actions, which earned him the distinction of being the most decorated soldier in American history.

POLSON — Community Bank, Division of Glacier Bank, joins together with Montana Senior Medicare Patrol and the Polson Police to host their eighth annual “Community After-Tax Shred Day.” This event is scheduled for Friday, May 15, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A free mobile shred truck will be on site at our Polson branch parking lot to shred two file-sized boxes of your personal documents. POLSON — Life Savers Animal Rescue is coordinating a free spay/neuter clinic for low-income households. You must complete a sign up sheet to be on the appointment callback list. LAKE COUNTY — A  free youth basketball clinic with guest coaches from The Hoop coaching clinic will take place Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Hosted by Salish Kootenai College, the clinic will be held at Two Eagle River School for girls in fifth through eighth grade and at Polson Middle School for boys in fourth through sixth grade. The event is limited to 50 girls and 50 boys. Lunch will be provided. Register online at thehoop.skc.org.

POLSON – On Tuesday, May 19, from 7:30-9 p.m., the Permaculture Series continues with information on organic soil building, earthworks, fungi, bacterial compost teas, and nitrogen. This class takes place at the Montana Co-op, Polson 410 Main Street. There is no charge but donations are accepted.

POLSON — Representatives of any business greeting visitors to the area are invited, free of charge, to attend the new “406 Hospitality” seminar in Polson. Business owners, managers, and front-line staff are encouraged to attend together.

The Polson Chamber of Commerce will host the training at KwaTaqNuk Resort on Tuesday, May 19, from 1-4 p.m. The Montana Office of Tourism and the Montana Superhost Program offer the fast-paced customer service and tourism training program. POLSON — Come join a Community Talking Circle for free on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Montana Co-Op, 401 Main Street. Open to all ages. The Four Agreements and the principles surrounding the agreements will be discussed and facilitated by John Payne and Loga Fixico. 

POLSON – The community dance will take place on May 20 from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks on Main Street. Ken’s Country Combo will provide the music and treats are welcome.

POLSON – A Qi Gong class is being offered at the Montana Co-op on Thursday, May 21, from 7:15-8:45 p.m. This class is a series of simple slow movements for health and wellness. All ages are welcome. Mary Goertson, a licensed therapist, is teaching this class. The cost is donation only.

POLSON —  Brian Lipscomb, CEO, Energy Keepers, will talk about the Tribe’s purchase of Kerr Dam, the marketing of electricity, and how it may affect the tax base of Lake County and Polson School District. With Tribal ownership $978,179 will be removed from Lake County property taxes of which $619,847 supports the local schools where about 30 percent of the students are Native American. So far the Tribe has been circumspect about what they plan to do about the taxation issue. Energy Keepers has contracted with an out of state company to market their energy. As this Tribal owned energy moves across interstate transmission lines will it be subject to taxation as is other energy is a question that Lipscomb might address at noon at the Friday, May 22 meeting. Lake County Pachyderm meetings take place at the Polson Rural Fire Department building near the Fairgrounds at noon. Everyone is invited to attend.

POLSON – Polson Presbyterian, at 301 Fourth Ave., E, is holding a sale on Friday and Saturday, May 22-23, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. There are dozens of donors and there will be something for everyone – good stuff. The Deacons are buying new padded chairs for the free Community Dinners every month.

POLSON – Sandpiper member Heather Holmes will display a multi-media collection of Native American inspired art from art classes she taught with Cherry Valley and Linderman Elementary students including ledger art, totems, masks, mandalas, clay pots and sculptures. The show runs May 16-30. There will be a reception on Friday, May 22 from 5-7 p.m. Come in and show your support of our children.

POLSON — The Co-op and Get Well Clinic will host a weeklong juice fast from May 23 to May 29 at the Hub. Anyone who wants to feel stronger and get rid of toxins is invited to get healthier and give their bodies the greatest gift they can. Registration is to take place at the Spring Green event on May 9. POLSON – The annual Memorial Day parade will be held on Monday, May 25, starting at noon at the corner of Sixth Ave. and Main and end at First Citizens Bank. Following the parade there will be a ceremony at the Lake View Cemetery. Participation is open to all veterans. For more information, call 847-331-5518.

POLSON – On Tuesday, May 26, from 7:30-9 p.m., the Montana Co-op, series explores species accumulations, food forests installation, and organizing for Lawers’ Nursery sale. This class takes place at the Montana Co-op, Polson 410 Main Street. There is no charge for the class but donations are accepted.
