POLSON — North Lake County Public Library in Polson is offering its traditional Food for Fines event during National Library Week, April 11-16. Overdue items or fines will be waived when you bring one item of canned or nonperishable packaged food to the circulation desk for each book/CD/DVD, etc. that is late. This does not include lost or damaged items. All food contributions will be donated to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

POLSON — The Lake County Chapter of ACT for America will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Polson Red Lion Hotel. The program includes two short videos that will inspire members to action. Linda Sauer and Ed Kugler will lead a discussion of local opportunities to work on two of ACT’s primary objectives: to confront terrorism and to secure the border. POLSON — Polson Rotary seeks partner applications for this year’s Festival of Youth. Applications will be accepted through April 30. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations who serve youth in Lake County. The selected applicant will be considered a partner and will be expected to sell tickets and volunteer at the event on Aug. 20. Polson Rotary is also looking for teams to compete in the Chili Cook-off. Applications can be found on the Polson Rotary website: www.clubrunner.ca/polson. Polson Rotary has given $235,250 to various projects.

POLSON — “Charismatic Curlews and Citizen Conservation in the Mission Valley” by Janene Lichtenburg and Amy Seaman will be the next program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room.

POLSON — Best Beginnings, in conjunction with local educational entities in the Mission Valley, is hosting two different nights for families with young children, April 14 and April 20. Parents with children planning on attending kindergarten next year are especially encouraged to attend. On April 14, at the Cherry Valley Elementary School—Polson Gym, this free event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a light dinner, family activities and a goodies bag. Child care will be provided. POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will host the Humanities Montana Speakers Bureau program, “Well-Behaved Women Rarely Make History: Women in Science” Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. POLSON – Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica J. Lindeen will screen a made-in-Montana documentary about investment fraud on Thursday, April 14, from 5-7 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk. POLSON — The public may meet the candidates running for the 2016 Irrigation District elections on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. at the VFW meeting room, 423 Main Street in Polson. Candidates running in the Flathead Mission and Jocko Valley Irrigation Districts will be invited to explain their positions on the critical issues facing the irrigation project. POLSON — The Polson Fairgrounds, Inc. 26th annual Cowboy Ball will be Friday, April 15, under the “big tent” at the Polson Fairgrounds. The fundraising banquet and auction is the main source of funding for the Polson Fairgrounds facility, which does not receive any annual county tax dollars. 

No-host cocktails and a silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a prime rib dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m., and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Dancing to ShoDown will take place after the auction. The $40 tickets are available to purchase in Polson at Wild Horse framing, Gull Printing, Crow’s Nest Gallery or from PFI board members. POLSON — Missoula Self Help Law Center will be in Polson on Tuesday, April 19, at the North Lake County Public Library from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. They will provide services on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. POLSON — Members of the Flathead Basin Commission will hold a meeting on April 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Lake County Courthouse in Polson. The a.m. portion of the meeting will focus on Aquatic Invasive Species updates. The afternoon portion of the meeting will feature a series of presentations related to Flathead waters.

POLSON — We are going to plant a happy face at the April Parents as Teachers Playgroup and pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend this free program. Kids will be able to take both their plant and a book home with them. Come join us from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Department, 802 Main St. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children in the area, and to learn more about the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program. POLSON — Mission Valley Live will present The Great Kaplan on Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at Polson High School. The show’s illusion, music, juggling and deadpan comedy collide in a hilarious vaudeville spectacle.
