Free dinner open, free to all
POLSON — The April Presbyterian Church Friendship Table dinner is on Friday, April 8, from 5-6:30 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us; this dinner is free and open to all.
Humanities program offers two presentations
POLSON/ST. IGNATIUS — Samir Bitar will present “Perspectives on Islam,” in two locations on Friday, April 8. The first presentation is at 12:30 p.m. in the North Lake County Library conference room in Polson. The second presentation will begin with a potluck at 5:30 p.m. and then the presentation at 6 p.m. at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church, top of Post Creek Hill. Port Polson Players present ‘Absurd Person Singular’
POLSON — The Port Polson Players’ 41st season opens with “Absurd Person Singular” a British comedy by Sir Alan Ayckbourn Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 8-10 with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets can be reserved by calling 406-883-9212 or by going to portpolsonplayers.com.
Presentation to address resort tax
POLSON — On Friday, April 8, Jill Southerland will present a PowerPoint presentation on the proposed resort tax. She mentioned the committee is looking at a six-months tax. Come to the meeting to find out the dates the tax will be in effect, what will be taxed, and what might be the tax rate. She will also discuss what projects the tax will be used to fund, e.g. roads, parks, sewer plant, water wells, etc.
The meeting is at the Polson Rural Fire Hall with social gathering starting at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting commencing from noon-1 p.m. For more information contact Norm Johnson at 406-883-0398.
Reception for teachers, students who show artwork at Sandpiper
POLSON — The Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery will present a multi-media show featuring the artwork of students from local schools and their teachers. “Who’s Teaching Whom?” will be shown April 2-15 with a reception held on Friday, April 8. Bring canned food in exchange for Polson library fines
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library in Polson is offering its traditional Food for Fines event during National Library Week, April 11-16. Overdue items or fines will be waived when you bring one item of canned or nonperishable packaged food to the circulation desk for each book/CD/DVD, etc. that is late. This does not include lost or damaged items. All food contributions will be donated to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.
Lake County Act for America to meet
POLSON — The Lake County Chapter of ACT for America will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Polson Red Lion Hotel. The program includes two short videos that will inspire members to action. Linda Sauer and Ed Kugler will lead a discussion of local opportunities to work on two of ACT’s primary objectives: to confront terrorism and to secure the border. Applications accepted for Rotary Festival through April 30
POLSON — Polson Rotary seeks partner applications for this year’s Festival of Youth. Applications will be accepted through April 30. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations who serve youth in Lake County. The selected applicant will be considered a partner and will be expected to sell tickets and volunteer at the event on Aug. 20. Polson Rotary is also looking for teams to compete in the Chili Cook-off. Applications can be found on the Polson Rotary website: www.clubrunner.ca/polson. Polson Rotary has given $235,250 to various projects.

Best Beginnings offers special night for young families in Polson
POLSON — Best Beginnings, in conjunction with local educational entities in the Mission Valley, is hosting two different nights for families with young children, April 14 and April 20. Parents with children planning on attending kindergarten next year are especially encouraged to attend. On April 14, at the Cherry Valley Elementary School—Polson Gym, this free event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a light dinner, family activities and a goodies bag. Child care will be provided. Dance to ShoDown at Cowboy Ball
POLSON — The Polson Fairgrounds, Inc. 26th annual Cowboy Ball will be Friday, April 15, under the “big tent” at the Polson Fairgrounds. The fundraising banquet and auction is the main source of funding for the Polson Fairgrounds facility, which does not receive any annual county tax dollars.
No-host cocktails and a silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a prime rib dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m., and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Dancing to ShoDown will take place after the auction. The $40 tickets are available to purchase in Polson at Wild Horse framing, Gull Printing, Crow’s Nest Gallery or from PFI board members. Flathead Basin Commission to meet
POLSON — Members of the Flathead Basin Commission will hold a meeting on April 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Lake County Courthouse in Polson. The a.m. portion of the meeting will focus on Aquatic Invasive Species updates. The afternoon portion of the meeting will feature a series of presentations related to Flathead waters.

PAT group plans fun event
POLSON — We are going to plant a happy face at the April Parents as Teachers Playgroup and pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend this free program. Kids will be able to take both their plant and a book home with them. Come join us from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Department, 802 Main St. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children in the area, and to learn more about the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program.
