‘Love Unknown’ chosen as theme for Lenten worship through April 9
POLSON — Good Shepherd’s Wednesday services and soup suppers will be held each week during Lent, through April 9. The theme for this year’s Lenten worship is “Love Unknown.” We will follow the verses of “My Song is Love Unknown,” which include topics such as “love to the loveless,” “love and grief,” and the “needs we have.” The liturgy for each week comes from modern-day composer Marty Haugen’s “That You May Have Life.” Good Shepherd is located at 409 Fourth Ave. E in Polson. Bible study group meets through April 10
POLSON — Beginning Thursday, Feb. 20 from 1-3 p.m. a “Living the Questions” Christian faith study will have its first of eight meetings. Each session includes a video, guided discussion, spiritual exercises and Bible study. With the help of modern, progressive Christian theologians, we invite seekers and “alumni(ae)” of faith traditions to re-discover their Christian faith in new ways. Free parenting course focuses on ‘Connecting with Your Kids’ through April 28
LAKE COUNTY — The Sunburst Community Service Foundation, is providing courses for parents. The courses are based on an early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children.
The eight-week course, “Connecting with Your Kids,” will take place in Polson. The course is free but registration is required. Childcare will be available. Students who complete the course will receive a Circle of Security Certificate. The course will begin on Friday, March 7, and run eight weeks. Good Shepherd schedules Holy Week Services through April 20
POLSON — Several worship services are scheduled at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Polson during Holy Week.
The Maundy Thursday service, commemorating the Last Supper, will include a study, hymns and Holy Communion. The service begins at 6:30 p.m.
The Good Friday service on April 18 also begins at 6:30 p.m. Lessons and hymns reflect on the events occurring after the Last Supper through the time of Christ’s crucifixion.
Easter Sunday begins bright and early April 20, with a 7 a.m. sunrise service. The youth group will serve a hearty breakfast at 8 a.m. There is no charge for the meal; however, donations will be gratefully accepted and go toward the 2014 service trip to Bethlehem. Mission Valley Aquatics to hire, train lifeguards through April 6
POLSON — Mission Valley Aquatics is hiring lifeguards and swim instructors to fill morning and daytime shifts during the week. If you are 15 or older and looking for a great part-time or summer job, or a challenging career that’s in demand, this Red Cross Lifeguarding Program is the place to start. Course will be held Sundays and Wednesdays beginning March 9, with the final exam being held on April 6.

POLSON — Polson Chamber general meeting and luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in Polson from noon-1 p.m. David W. Museum provides venue for students’ music
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum on Memory Lane, in Polson, just off of Highway 93 S, will present an evening of enlightening music on Thursday, April 3, from 5-7 p.m. This is a free concert provided by the students of Fiddle Sticks School Of Music. This year’s selections will be old time fiddle tunes, jazz, big band era, country western, beach tunes and more from 1920s through 2000s, showcasing how young and old can learn to play the instrument they always wanted to. Breakfast to benefit Polson Youth Baseball Association
POLSON – On Saturday, April 5, the seventh annual Brian Anciaux Benefit Breakfast will be held at the Polson Elks Lodge, from 8:30-11 a.m. Proceeds to benefit the Polson Youth Baseball Association. The cost is $3 per plate for 13 years of age and younger and $5 per plate for all others. The public is welcome to enjoy breakfast and celebrate our youth baseball players.

POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E. (use the east side door). Our topic will be “Growing Herbs and Food to Prevent Disease.” Come learn which herbs you need to have in your home and how to use them to stay well. Polson Rural Fire District meeting set
POLSON — The Polson Rural Fire District monthly trustee meeting will be on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds station.
The old business will include updates from the building committee; annual performance review workup; equipment; city/rural; SOP/bullying update; and budget class with county update.
The new business will include proposed sharing of legal fees of unification and the budget.
Several topics to highlight Resource Roundtable meeting
POLSON — The next Resource Roundtable meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 9, at noon at Lake County Health Department conference room. Miracle of America Museum to show “Harry’s War”
POLSON — The Miracle of America Museum will feature the full-length film, “Harry’s War” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10. The hilarious antics of Harry fighting for justice from the bungling IRS agents, who are sure his Aunt Beverly is worth millions with her military surplus yard, will keep you laughing. Some WWII artifacts used in the movie are on display at the museum. There is no charge for the event, but treats and/or a free-will offering will be accepted.
Program focuses on native fish of Flathead Lake
POLSON — The next educational program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society is on Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. The program is “Saving Native Fish in Flathead Lake” by Barry Hansen. Everyone is welcome.
Barry will provide an overview of the ecology of Flathead Lake including the status of the cutthroat and bull trout populations. He will also address proposals to conserve these native species by suppressing non-native lake trout.
Barry Hansen is a fisheries biologist for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.

Barron to speak at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — County Commissioner Bill Barron will be the guest speaker at the Friday, April 11, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club beginning at noon at the Rural Polson Fire Department building on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m.; brown bag lunches are encouraged.
