POLSON — Celebrate ‘I Love To Read’ month on Saturday, Feb. 22, by attending the ‘Meet the Author Night Fundraiser’ at the Mission Valley Christian Academy on Highway 35 in Polson. A $5 cover charge will be collected at the door from 2-8 p.m. Many local and regional authors and publishers will be on hand to sell books, sign copies and visit about their love of reading and writing. Paul Fugleberg’s collection of Schnitzmeyer photos will be on display, and a slideshow of photos from the Lake County School House history books will be presented. POLSON — The Winter Fest benefiting Soup’s On takes place Saturday, Feb. 22, beginning at 5 p.m. Admission is $9 for pork dinner, with entertainment by Southern Comfort Band, and Blue Smoke Band.  A silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and door prizes will take place during the early part of the evening. Soup’s On provides a free meal weekly, along with a Family Table Dinner the fourth Friday each month at Wander Inn. To date, more than 40,000 meals have been served to the community.

POLSON — All are welcome to a free Mexican-menu community dinner at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E, on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 6-7:30 p.m. 

POLSON — Polson Youth Baseball signups for ages 4 – 15 are scheduled for Feb. 27 and March 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. both nights. Signups will be located in the Polson Middle School cafeteria. We are also taking coaching applications for all age groups. If you would like to sponsor a team, please let us know. Team sponsors are very much appreciated.

POLSON — Those attending the Friday, Feb. 28 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club will hear stories of how dogs are used in detecting illegal drugs. The meeting will be held at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road beginning at 11:30 a.m. with brown bag lunches. The business meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. Featured speaker is Dennis Jones, retired Polson High School principal, who has worked narcotics and weapons canines for the past 12 years. He will bring his drug-detecting dog, a black lab named Jetta. All are welcome.

POLSON — The Polson After School Program plans a bingo night fundraiser for Feb. 28 from 5:30-8 p.m. or until the prizes run out, according to director Amanda Steele. It will be a family event with prizes for kids and parents alike. Concession stand food will be available. POLSON — A Lake County Relay for Life meeting is planned for Monday, March 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at First Interstate Bank in Polson. (Rescheduled from Feb. 26) Bring your “Relay” thinking caps and lets get planning for this year.

POLSON — The Ash Wednesday service at Polson Community Church will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at 1814 First Street E. All are welcome.

POLSON — Please join us for the Polson Chamber’s general meeting and luncheon at noon on March 5 at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. Our topic of discussion will be Glacier National Park and we are very excited to have Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow and Glacier National Park Conservancy CEO Mark Preiss as our featured speakers. The cost for the March luncheon will be $10.50. We hope to see you there.

POLSON — The Lake County Parks Board is developing a countywide parks and trails plan and is seeking public comment on the draft. The board will hold three public meetings to present key elements of the plan and to understand the public’s ideas for the development and maintenance of parks and trails. 

The third meeting will be held Wednesday, March 5 at the Polson Rural Fire Station on Regatta Road near the Polson fairgrounds at 6 p.m. 

POLSON — Wednesday, March 5, is the date for the next dance at the Elks scheduled from 7-10 p.m. Ken’s County Combo will play. Requests and treats are welcome. Join us for the fun. We will miss you if you don’t show. Thanks to all who are sharing treats.
