POLSON — A community dance will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Elks from 7-10 p.m. Ken’s Country Combo will provide the tunes. Treats are appreciated and everyone is welcome.

Correction: Luncheon will be held
POLSON - The Help Feather the Nest luncheon fundraiser will still be held Thursday, Jan. 22, at the KwaTaqNuk resort in Polson.
It was not put on hold; however, there are only a very limited number of tickets left. For more information about the fundraiser, call (406) 546-0199. The Valley Journal regrets the error.
Enjoy free community dinner
POLSON — Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E, will have a free community dinner on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. A Mexican menu is planned. All are welcome.

Cinemafest returns to Polson
POLSON — The Flathead Lake International Cinemafest is scheduled for Jan. 23-25, 2015, in Polson.
Break out the special eyeglasses or shades for the festival kick-off, a “Spectacular Spectacle” themed opening party, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. Film screenings begin at 8 p.m., Friday at the Showboat Cinemas and continue through Sunday, Jan. 25, with an awards/closing party. The three-day program includes film screenings of domestic and international features, shorts and documentaries of all genres.

POLSON – Dancers live longer and have more fun. Everyone is welcome to a dance at the Polson Elks ballroom on the corner of Sixth and Main Street in Polson from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28. EAA Chapter to meet at Polson airport FBO
POLSON — EAA Chapter 1122 will have their monthly meeting on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Polson airport FBO.
All EAA members and aviation enthusiasts are welcome to attend the meeting.
On the agenda for this meeting is the election of officers for 2015 and discussion of events and programs desired by the chapter for the upcoming year. We hope to see you at the meeting.

Public invited to informational meeting regarding water compact
POLSON — A City Commission Work Session will be held in Commission Chambers at 106 1st Street East on Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. to receive information about the Proposed Water Rights Compact. Representatives from the State of Montana, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and the Opponents of the Compact have been invited to give presentations.
The goal of this work session is to hear information strictly related to the municipal groundwater claims the City holds and how these claims may be affected by the Compact. After these informational presentations, the Commission may call for public comment and citizens are encouraged to attend. This work session will conclude promptly at 8 p.m. No political position on behalf of the City will be taken at this work session.
