POLSON — The Fifth Friday Community Dinner at Polson Community Church, 1814 First Street E, is planned for Jan. 29. The menu includes stuffed shells and spaghetti sauce as well as assorted desserts. Join us from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

POLSON — "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" is a six-session, 90-minutes weekly series of classes designed to help caregivers with the many physical, social, and emotional challenges they face. It is well-known that very often caregivers become ill or even die before the person they are caring for, simply because they ignore their own needs. Two facilitators who have been caregivers themselves lead these sessions. Classes are planned in Polson on Thursdays, Jan. 14-Feb. 18, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Hospital. The regular fee is $50, however we can charge on a sliding scale based on income. There is also funding available to reimburse those who want to pay for respite care for their loved one so they can attend the classes. POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 1, the Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. at the Lake Bar and Grill, 101 Main Street (no longer at the Driftwood). Dennis DeVries will make a presentation of the Great Bear Foundation Program from the Northern Studies Center. There will be many pictures and good stories. All are welcome. This is a free event.

POLSON — The show "Sketch the Sculpture" will open at Sandpiper Art Gallery on Friday, Jan. 15. There will be drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 5-7 p.m. The display runs until Feb. 19.

POLSON — Please join the Polson Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Feb. 3, for our general meeting and luncheon held at the KwaTaqNuk Resort at noon. A hot entrée lunch will be served for $14. Guest speaker is Glacier Country Executive Director Racene Friede.

POLSON —The Community Dance has been going on at the Elks Club for nearly 25 years every first and third Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Ken’s Country Combo plays wonderful tunes and does take requests. Come check it out. 

POLSON — You are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Lake County Republican Central Committee. The meeting will be held at the Lake County Rural Fire Department next to the Polson Fairgrounds on Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. You will get updated on the political happenings locally and around the state. POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Our speaker on Feb. 4 will be Jay Garrick, supervisor of the Lake County Road Department. He will address the status of the roads, equipment purchases and new projects in the future.

POLSON — PEACE (Prevention and Education of Abuse in Christian Environments) will be hosting a seminar “No Fear In Love” on Feb. 6. The seminar includes discussing the myths, signs and effects of domestic violence as well as what the Bible has to say regarding the issue. POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, learn the latest information about the effort to establish an office to coordinate refugee resettlement and bring 100 refugees a year to Missoula, plan to attend the program, “Refugee Resettlement: What does it mean to you?” Two short videos and the latest information on refugee resettlement throughout the country will be presented from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn. POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the North County Library meeting room. Our topic will be “Strategies for Prevention.” We will continue the discussion of ingredients to avoid in our foods and other products. During February we will focus on cayenne, ginger, and turmeric and talk about planning our gardens for the most productivity. For those who are new to using herbs, we are planning some special classes for beginners.

POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, from 4:30-8 p.m. at the VFW, the Kiwanis Club is cooking buffalo burgers to support youth programs. Tickets are $8 and come with salads, fresh pie and a beverage.

POLSON — Masumola Club will meet on Feb. 11 starting with social hour at 5:45 p.m. Hosts for February are Lou and Irene Marchello and Ron McClellan.  It will be a Valentine’s theme.

Suggested potluck food distribution are: A–H salad or veggie; I–O; meat or hot dish; P –Z dessert. March hosts are the Olsons, the Clements and the Mowbrays. There will be live music provided by The Shamrockers.
