POLSON — Applications for Polson High School’s Traffic Education Class (winter session 2015-16) can be picked up at the PHS office during school hours. Please read, complete and return completed forms to the high school office by Monday, Nov. 30. The winter Traffic Education session will start Dec. 4, 2015, and end on approximately Feb. 19, 2016. Students must be 14 and one-half years old or older by Jan. 4, 2015. Class size is limited to 30.

POLSON — The December meeting of the Polson Chamber of Commerce will feature Polson Mayor Heather Knutson and City Manager Mark Shrives discussing the State of the City. The meeting will be held in the KwaTaqNuk Resort on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from noon-1 pm. A native of Polson, Heather Knutson has served as Mayor since January 2014. She is also the General Manager of Country Foods. Mark Shrives holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and became Polson City Manager in October 2013.

POLSON – The Polson Rural Fire Board has scheduled a special meeting Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station, 25 Regatta Road. Trustees plan to discuss needs of the district.

POLSON — The monthly meeting of the Lake County Republican Central Committee is scheduled for Dec. 2. The meeting will be held at the Polson Rural Fire Hall in the Sheriff’s conference room at 6:30 p.m. All interested people are encouraged to attend. POLSON – The Polson Kiwanis will meet Dec. 3 at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in the Koostatah Room from noon-1 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Dee Ann Cates from Safe Harbor. The Polson Chamber of Commerce recently selected Safe Harbor as nonprofit of the year. Everyone is welcome. 

POLSON — The all new Lake County Parade of Lights will be on Friday, Dec. 4, starting at 6 p.m. Polson merchants will hold an Open House on Friday, Dec. 4, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with refreshments, special promotions, an art walk and entertainment. POLSON — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1202 Fourth Ave. E (west of Super 1 Foods), invites you to “The Nativity: Polson” on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5-8 p.m. This celebration includes a Nativity Exhibit with over 200 nativities on display. POLSON - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints invites you to "The Nativity: Polson" on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 3-8 p.m. (See Friday, Dec. 4) A Christmas program featuring local choirs and artists will take place on Saturday at 6 p.m.

POLSON — Looking for a great way to spend your Saturday prior to the Frozen Movie Night at Mission Valley Aquatics? POLSON – Partners In Home Care/Hospice, The Lake Funeral Home and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center would like to invite the public to remember and honor the loved ones in your life who have died. 

An ecumenical ceremony of remembrance will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory at 101 Sixth Ave. E. 

Each attendee will be presented with a lighted candle and paper dove to symbolize the tribute to their loved ones. 

The dove will be placed on a Tree of Life, which will remain illuminated until the New Year begins. The tree will be located at St. Joseph Medical Centers’ Lobby. This memorial ceremony is open to the public and a reception will follow.

A Christmas message featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be broadcast Sunday from 6-7 p.m.

POLSON — The Foster Grandparent Program Open House will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center in Polson on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The community and potential Foster Grandparent volunteers are invited to meet other Foster Grandparents and learn more about the program and its needs in Lake County. POLSON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees will hold their Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Pop’s Grill at noon. Lunch will be available from the menu. Following lunch there will be a program featuring Samantha Walker from the Agency on Aging. A Merry Christmas is wished to all.

POLSON — On Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m., just three days after the anniversary of the “day that will live in infamy,” we will show the very accurate 20th Century Fox feature length movie Tora! Tora! Tora! The movie will be preceded by a personalized tour of related artifacts in the museum displays. Treats and donations are welcome.

POLSON – “Conserving Forest Riparian Areas in the Face of Fire” by Chris Frissell will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next evening program on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Dr. Chris Frissell is a consulting research scientist and Affiliate Research Professor at the University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station that works on fish conservation, watershed science and freshwater habitat protection and restoration around the Pacific Northwest and California.

POLSON — Lake County, in partnership with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Health Services, Providence Health and Services, and Western Montana Mental Health Center, is pleased to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new “Lake House” mental health center, 7 Thirteenth Ave. E, on Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. The public is invited and welcome to attend.

POLSON — Jason Farnham will perform at the Polson High School on Dec. 11, 2015, at 7 p.m. Take George Winston, add some Victor Borge, Beethoven on steroids, garnish with Schroeder from Peanuts, throw it all in a blender, and what comes out is an unmistakable Jason Farnum Show.
