Immunization clinic held at PHS
POLSON — Lake County Health Department is offering an immunization clinic on Monday, Oct. 26, at Polson High School auditorium during first and second periods. Parents or guardians that complete the proper forms and return them with payment or insurance verification can have their child receive the first varicella immunization on Oct. 26. NAMI presents second film in series
POLSON — On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the National Alliance on Mental Illness will present the movie, “The King’s Speech” in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room at 6:30 p.m. A discussion will be led by Julie Fleck, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Sonya Milheim, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This is part of a film/discussion series called “Minds Matter” presented during the month of October. Refreshments will be served. All events are free and open to the public.
Support PHS volleyball team
POLSON – Come out and support the Polson High School volleyball teams play against Hamilton on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Linderman Gym. The freshman team plays at 4:15 p.m. and junior varsity and varsity games follow. For more information, go to the Polson High School website.

POLSON — The Polson Health and Rehabilitation facility, located at 9 Fourteenth Ave. W, will be open on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2-4 p.m. for trick or treaters.

‘Driven to Abstraction’ begins now through Nov. 14
POLSON — On Oct. 5 Sandpiper Art Gallery starts a new month-long show in memory of John Davis entitled “Driven to Abstraction.”
This non-juried show is open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the theme, in any medium, will be accepted. Miracle of America Museum have 4 or 5 metal sculptures there, one of which is very emotionally charged about drunk driving. The show runs from Oct. 5-Nov. 14.

Republicans invite all to meetings
POLSON – There will be a meeting of the Lake County Republican Central Committee on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the Rural Fire Department building in the Sheriff’s conference room. We will recap our Lincoln Reagan dinner and make winter plans. The public is always welcome to attend these meetings. For more information, call 406-844-2386.

POLSON — During the November Polson Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting small businesses can learn how they can take advantage of promotional opportunities. Sheriff Bell to speak at Kiwanis Club
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTukNuk Resort, Koostatah Room from noon-1 p.m. Lake County Sheriff Don Bell will be our guest speaker for the Nov. 5 meeting. He will talk about his background in law enforcement as well as his duties and responsibilities as Lake County Sheriff. The public is welcome.

Methodist Church holds bazaar, luncheon
POLSON — The annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon at the First United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, is on Friday, Nov. 6.
Art, homemade crafts and baked goods will be sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Soup and sandwiches, topped off with an apple dumpling and ice cream, will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Proceeds will be used for local and church-wide mission outreach.

Breakfast to benefit Thelma Briney
POLSON — A benefit pancake breakfast for Thelma Mae Briney will be held from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Cherry Valley School. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Thelma is the daughter of Brad and Mandy Briney and the granddaughter of Paul and Kathy Briney. Thelma has been diagnosed with a rare form of children’s cancer and is being treated in Seattle. Her parents and 5-year-old brother will stay with her during her 6-8 month treatment and will be unable to work. Please attend the breakfast or donate to the Thelma Mae Briney fund at First Interstate Bank in Polson. Prayers are greatly appreciated.
Free suicide prevention seminar offered
POLSON — A free training to help reduce suicide will be offered Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at New Life Christian Center in Polson. Those who attend the full 8-hour training will receive three certifications: Mental Health First Aid Certification, C.A.L.M. Certification (Conversation about Access to Lethal Means Certification), and Question, Persuade, Refer Certification.
Dr. Ferguson will also preach a message on the topic on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. This is open to the community. For more information, call the church at 406-883-2447.
