POLSON — Come join us on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. in Polson for a fun and festive 5K run/walk. Enjoy a scenic, flat course. Themed awards are given to winners in each age group; many drawing prizes are given away to participants; and all runners, spectators and volunteers are treated to a free spaghetti lunch. Brought to you by Polson Running, HealthCare Plus and Country Pasta, this event focuses on encouraging a healthy local environment. All proceeds from this year’s race will be donated to the Polson Youth Soccer Association. 

Registration is $15 prior to Oct. 3 and $20 after that and on race day. Race registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. on Oct. 26 at HealthCare Plus, 1 Seventh Ave. E. POLSON — “The Polar Bears of Hudson’s Bay” by Dr. Frank Tyro will be the next evening program of the Mission Mountain Audubon Society on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Frank’s program will focus on the bears and other animals that inhabit this area.  Everyone is welcome. 

POLSON — In conjunction with “Red Ribbon Week,” Linderman Elementary is encouraging participation in a prescription drug "take back” on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Polson City Hall building. Properly dispose of your unused or expired prescription medications and have a conversation with your child about the affects of drugs and alcohol.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library hosts a special one-hour story time for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers every Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1p.m. This week's theme is "counting." POLSON — The Pumpkin Patch Bash will be at the Polson High School gymnasium on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. This totally-free carnival is designed for families with children in sixth grade and under. There will be a free family dinner, games, candy and giveaways. Don’t miss this amazing annual event, which is sponsored by the New Life Christian Center. POLSON — On Halloween night from 4-10 p.m., Rewind Dance Studio at 214 Main Street will hold a haunted-house, a bake sale, and a 50/50 raffle. The fee for children 11 years old and older is $5 and $3 for children 10 years old and younger. A portion of the proceeds will go to local children in need and the Make a Wish Montana Chapter. 

POLSON — The supernatural mystery "The Uninvited" by the Port Polson Players at the John Dowdall Theatre continues the weekend of Nov. 1-3. Curtain time is at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. for the matinee on Sunday. The Players promise a "haunting good time" featuring a classic ghost story. POLSON — A chili feed, silent auction, and 50/50 drawing will be held to benefit Leniece “Leni” Trahan. Leni is a 12-year-old seventh grade student at Ronan Middle School, who was diagnosed in June with osteosarcoma, on her left knee (a common bone cancer in children). She had surgery on Sept. 12 and will continue chemotherapy through Jan. 1, 2014. Please join the Mission Mountain Survivors M.C., a N.P.O., on Nov. 2 at the Polson VFW Post #2986, 423 Main St., in the upstairs banquet room. The silent auction begins at 12 p.m. and the chili feed starts at 2 p.m. and goes until the chili is all gone. Chili will be $5/bowl or $20 for a family of 5. All children 3 and under are free.

POLSON —Goblins, witches and ghouls of all sorts are invited to the “Monster Mash Fun Run” on Nov. 2 at Linderman Elementary School. The one-mile run/walk begins at 10 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10:30 a.m. Costumes are advised. The fun run will celebrate the end of “Red Ribbon” week.

POLSON — Lake County has been awarded $125,000 from the Montana Department of Health and Human Services to plan and design a new six-bed psychiatric stabilization facility. Two community meetings about the program will be held Thursday, Nov. 7. The first meeting will be held from 2-3 p.m. in at the Victor Charlo Theater at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo. Another meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Byrnes Conference room at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, 6 Thirteenth Ave. E.

POLSON — The annual fall bazaar and luncheon is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Polson. The ever-popular apple dumpling is again the menu highlight. Soup and sandwiches topped off with a dumpling and ice cream are served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Art, homemade crafts and baked goods are sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. United Methodist women sponsor the event and use proceeds for local and church-wide mission projects. The church is located at 301 Sixteenth Ave. E. in Polson.

POLSON — The November Friendship Table Dinner is on Friday, Nov. 8; from 5-7 p.m. at the Polson Presbyterian Church located across from the Linderman School.  Come join us. This dinner is free and open to all.
