‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Concert, dance to raise funds for child with cancer

VALLEY VIEW — On Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Valley View Clubhouse, KC and the Valley Cats will put on a concert/dance to raise money for Jade Marr (who has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer) and her family. Admission at the door is by donation. Bake sale items will be available. Refreshments provided. To get to Valley View Clubhouse, head west on Seventh Avenue around the baseballs fields, follow the signs, “Jade’s Concert” with green balloons. Holiday shopping can start early

POLSON — The Elks, at 512 Main St., will hold a taco soup feed and holiday bazaar on Sunday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but nonperishable food donations will be collected. All kinds of vendors will showcase their items in one convenient location. This is a fundraiser for local food banks and all proceeds will be split and donated.

Dance planned for day before Thanksgiving

POLSON — Our day-before-Thanksgiving dance will be held at the Elks on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Ken’s Country Combo will play the tunes with ballroom dancing the fare for the night. Treats and goodies are welcome and wonderful, so keep them coming. We thank the band for the past year. They stepped up and saved us when we were not sure of our future. You are much appreciated.

All invited to Polson community Thanksgiving dinner

POLSON — Everyone in the Polson community is invited to join in a a homemade Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 22, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Polson Senior Center, 504 3rd Ave. E. We offer transportation services for those in need, and meal delivery for those who wish to remain at home. Families, couples, singles, are invited to share a meal and fellowship during this season of thanks. To request a ride or dinner delivery, please call (406) 883-4735 by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.

We are requesting donations of salads, pies, and/or dinner rolls from our community at large. As our dinner grows, we need a little more support each year. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Cathy at the center by Nov. 12 to tell her what you would like to bring. No donation is too big or too small, so anything you can do is appreciated. Thanks for your help, and may you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Turkey trot returns to Polson

POLSON — Join the fifth annual Polson turkey trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. This 5K fun run/walk will start and finish at Century 21 Big Sky Real Estate, on the corner of Highway 93 and Highway 35. The course travels down Highway 35 and around Mission Bay. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Race day registration opens at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $5. All proceeds benefit Polson Loaves and Fishes.

Winery offers fun education

DAYTON —Thanksgiving at the Winery is the winery’s continuing program to educate the community about the pleasurable synergies created by the pairing of food and wine. On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., we will show you how to pair holiday foods with wines. Come try our special artichoke dip and Pinot Grigio, pork loin and Riesling, chicken curry with Muscat Canelli, smoked salmon and Pinot Noir, death by chocolate cake and Cabernet Sauvignon and pound cake with Orange Muscat Sherry. Mission Mountain Winery is located on Highway 93 in Dayton on the west shore of beautiful Flathead Lake.
