POLSON — A benefit taco bar dinner with live and silent auction items will be held for Kevin & Anne Engebretson on Oct. 19, from 5-9 p.m. at the Polson Elks Club. This benefit dinner is being held to help the family with medical expenses. The taco bar is $10 per person or $30 for a family of four. Tickets can be purchased at Brown’s Jewelry, Eagle Bank (see Moriah Lundeen), or at the door from Lisa Skalsky.

POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library District hosts Montana Conversation “Me and Martha: Intimate Reflections of Dora DuFran about the Real Life of Calamity Jane” with Mary Jane Bradbury on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. This presentation is free and open to the public. POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 49th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, homemade lefse, salad and dessert from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the church fellowship hall. The cost of dinner is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12 years. Call ahead to place take-out orders at 406- 883-5864. Dinners will be available for pickup after 3 p.m. It is the desire of Good Shepherd to keep prices reasonable because this dinner is a mission/outreach of our community so donations are always welcome. Dinner proceeds will benefit Polson’s Senior Citizen Center.

POLSON — Join the Drum and Harvest Feast on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Polson Middle School cafeteria. This is the sixth year of the community Harvest Feast. This year, we are blessed to combine our Drum Feast with our Harvest Feast. We will also have a bonus surprise guest from the EPA to present a national award. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will hold another Computer Basics Class on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. entitled “Better Safe Than Sorry: Computer Backups and How to Do Them.” We will teach you why you need to do backups to keep your devices safe. This class is free and open to the public.

POLSON — You are invited to join the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Team for a pumpkin-decorating, craft-making Halloween event at the North Lake County Public Library at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Team will join the Wiggle Worms group for this fun event, open to all with young children. POLSON — On Thursday, Oct. 31, come Trick-or-Treat at North Lake County Public Library. Wear your costume or come as you are. We will be giving out candy until it is gone.

Come and explore the possibilities in a fun and engaging event facilitated by the University of Montana’s AMRII team. The evening will include a brainstorming session surrounding the topics of community enhancement and innovation. Persons of every age, background, and level of expertise are welcome. We will meet at Glacier Brewing Company on Nov. 1. Brainstorming will begin at 4:30 pm.

All former members of the Montana education community, bus drivers to administrators, teachers to custodians, paraprofessionals to cooks, even school board members, are invited to learn about MREA--the Montana Retired Educators' Association--at a Meet & Greet Friday, November 1, 1-3 p.m. at Fiesta en Jalisco in Polson. POLSON — Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. the North Lake County Public Library’s Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale. Come in to the large meeting room of the library. There will be books of every genre, bargains galore. Fill a bag for $5 or buy the Friends of the Library canvas book bag for $15 and fill it up for free. All proceeds benefit the library’s many programs and projects.

POLSON — Come meet candidate for governor of Montana, Whitney Williams, on Friday, Nov. 1, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Bickford Building, 220 Main Street. Join hosts Co Carew and Joe McConald for wine, cheese and other goodies.

POLSON — An annual fall bazaar and luncheon is being held at the First United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, on Friday, Nov. 1. Art, homemade crafts and bake goods will be sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be soup, sandwiches and an apple dumpling with ice cream served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Proceeds are used for local and church-wide Mission Outreach.
