Garage sale proceeds to benefit Methodist Church
POLSON — Multiple families have donated goods to the United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, garage sale scheduled for Saturday, Sept 24. All proceeds benefit the church. Have fun under the stars at fundraiser
POLSON — Mission Valley Christian Academy will host a fun night under the stars at their Island Dreams Fundraising Auction and Dinner at the Red Lion on Saturday, Sept. 24. You won’t want to miss the opportunity for great vacation packages, world class fish sculpture, area certificates and much, much more. All proceeds benefit Mission Valley Christian Academy. Marines, public play golf for “Toys for Tots”
POLSON — The first annual Marine Corps Reserves “Toys for Tots” four-person Golf Scramble, presented by Marine Corps League #1041, takes place on Saturday, Sept. 24, (one day event). Play 18 holes at the Polson Bay Golf Course Bayshore Nine (old nine) 2 laps. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. on the old nine. Entry fee: course season pass holders are $40 per person and non- course season pass holders $50 are per person. Entry includes golf and meal after play on the lawn below clubhouse. PBC announces ‘Decorate the Bench Competition’
POLSON — Celebrate fall with the downtown “Decorate the Bench Competition.” Choose a bench at Navigator Travel between Sept. 26-Oct.7. The public votes Oct.15-21 with winners announced at our “Downtown Open House” on Oct. 22. The first place prize is $200 in PBC-dollars; the second place prize is $100 in PBC-dollars; and third place is $80 in PBC-dollars. Bereavement group set to begin in Polson
POLSON — A free eight-week Bereavement Support Group series for adults grieving the death of a loved one is offered Wednesdays from 10-11:30 a.m. from Sept. 28-Nov. 16, at the O’Maley conference room at St. Joseph Medical Center. Bison Range ownership discussed
POLSON — “Restoration of the National Bison Range to Federal Trust Ownership for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes” by Brian Upton will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next educational program on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Brian Upton, a CSKT attorney, as well as other staff will be on hand to discuss the Tribe’s draft legislation to restore the National Bison Range land to federal trust ownership for CSKT. The staff will also discuss some of the related history and background at the National Bison Range.

Join homecoming parade, game
POLSON — Polson High School’s Homecoming Parade takes place Friday, Sept. 30. The parade begin at 2:35 p.m. from the high school, travels north on Second Street W, turns east onto Eighth Ave. in front of Cherry Valley, then north on Main Street. The floats will turn east on Third Ave. and continue past the Lake County Courthouse, turn right onto Second Street E in front of Linderman Gym, and then goes east to the finish near the tennis courts. All spectators are urged to show their Polson Pride by wearing purple and gold. The football game against the Whitefish Bulldogs begins at 7 p.m. with crowning of the homecoming king and queen at halftime.

Worthy Grand Matron to make official visit
POLSON — Marlene Pfaff of Laurel, Worth Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star I Montana will make her official visitation to Mystic Chapter No. 53 on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. She will be accompanied by Worthy Grand Patron David Nielsen of Helena. The meeting will be preceded by a soup supper at 5:30 p.m. at The Masonic Hall in Polson. The current Worthy Grand Matron Marlene and Worthy Grand Patron David will reside at their “OES – What a Wonderful World” session in Billings, June 14-17, 2017, to celebrate the 128th anniversary of Montana Grand Chapter.

Benefit set for cancer patient
POLSON — A fundraiser dinner for Steve Heintz is set for Friday, Oct. 7, at the Red Lion Inn, starting with a no-host cocktail and hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. followed by a prime rib and salmon dinner buffet at 7 p.m. The dinner at Red Lion Inn is provided by Finley Point Grill.
