Polson IEC sets meeting date
POLSON — The Polson Indian Education Committee’s monthly meeting is on Oct. 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Linderman School gym. Dinner will be served from 5:30–6 p.m. Meeting starts at 6 p.m. Election of officers will take place with all seats available. Childcare will be provided. Come learn about what the Indian Education Committee does, about JOM Funds and about Title 6. Colon health topic at Kiwanis Club meeting
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the Kwa-TaqNuk Resort, in the Koostatah Room from noon to 1 p.m. Join us Oct. 20 when our guest speakers will be Heidi Sturm and Dr. Phillip Jasse, gastroenterologist. They are with Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Polson. They will speak about colon health, preventative heath and the services they offer. Everyone is welcome.
SPLASH at Ridgewater Clinic
POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce October SPLASH will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Luke Community Clinic Ridgewater, 107 Ridgewater Drive. The event will be held from 5-7 p.m. and will celebrate the opening of this new Polson medical facility.
The monthly Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour offers participants the chance to network and learn more about a featured business every month.

Enjoy apple pie at Catholic Church
POLSON — Saturday, Oct. 22, is the annual Apple Festival at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Their famous, delicious, homemade apple pies will be available for sale in 10-inch size for $10 and 6-inch size for $5 and will be perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. And it’s not too early to start Christmas shopping. The event also features lots of vendors ready to help you fill your Christmas shopping list. In addition, there will be lunch available with a choice of sandwiches and slices of pies for dessert.

POLSON — The monthly JO’M Polson Indian Education Committee meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 24, at Linderman School in Polson. The meeting is open to the public and dinner and childcare are provided. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Linderman library. This is the annual election meeting. Ghosts tell tales at ‘Night at the Museum’
POLSON — At Miracle of America Halloween season sets the stage on Oct. 27, for the “Night at the Museum.” Two ghosts will appear and tell about their mortal experiences, Polson’s namesake David Polson and his daughter Agnes. A tour down photograph alley will follow with a discussion of the “then and now” of our area. We will then decide whether to pursue a local cemetery program similar to Missoula’s “Stones and Stories” in which the living play the part of a relative or dignitary at the grave site. Guests are encouraged to bring a family heirloom or early photographs to share. Check our website or Facebook for upcoming programs.
Lutheran Church holds 46th Harvest Dinner
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 46th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, in the church fellowship hall. Dinner is $10 per adult and $5 for children under 12 years old. Take-out orders will be available for pick up after 3 p.m. Call 406-883-5864 to place order. Fair Trade coffee will also be available for purchase. Dinner proceeds will benefit Lake County Search & Rescue.
PAT hosts Halloween party
POLSON — The October Parents as Teachers Playgroup will feature a Halloween Costume Party and Pumpkin Painting on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Conference Room, 802 Main Street. Pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend this free program. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children in the area, and to learn more about Lake County’s Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program. POLSON — Dan Salomon, a candidate for election to Montana State Senate District 47, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, Oct. 28, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The Lake County Pachyderm Club meets at the Rural Polson Fire Department building on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds. Social time starts at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at noon and concludes at 1 p.m. All those interested in being informed about what is going on in state government are cordially invited to attend.
