POLSON — Due to floor renovation activities, the Wednesday night dance normally held at the Elks will be held at the VFW on the night of Oct. 15. Ken’s Country Combo will play everything from waltz, two step polka swing and anything from the 50s. Dance is from 7-10 p.m. Bring a treat to share.

ARLEE — The Lake County Public Health Department will be offering flu shots to the public at Arlee Senior Center on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 10:30 a.m.–noon. The cost is $25. Seniors, please remember to bring your Medicare Part B coverage cards as that will pay for your flu shot.

POLSON — Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, from 5-7 p.m. Your host will be First Interstate Bank. Hope to see you there.

POLSON — The Parents as Teachers is sponsoring a “Community Connection” event open to all area parents on Friday, Oct. 17, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The lunchtime event takes place in the Public Health Department’s conference room at 802 Main Street.

They will show you how to make some healthy Halloween treats and talk about fun ideas for the holiday. Information about the PAT program and lunch will be provided. A Ninja smoothie maker is the door prize and donated baby and toddler clothes are there to take home.

The PAT program is a free, voluntary program that provides twice monthly home visits with age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age five, developmental screenings, and information and referrals to area resources. POLSON — The public is invited to the 10 a.m. meeting of the Flathead Reservation Area Historical Society on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the large conference room of the Lake County Courthouse. Representatives of local museums and library boards are always encouraged to participate. POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, in the church fellowship hall. The cost for the dinner is $10 per adult, $4 per child under 10 years. Fair Trade coffee will also be available for purchase. Dinner proceeds will benefit local Helping Hands and Cheerful Heart organizations.

POLSON — A harvest community dinner will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6-7 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E. There will be a chicken dinner and salad served. An inspiration film will be shown after dinner and will be followed with dessert and coffee. All are welcome.

POLSON — In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Prevention and Education of Abuse and Christian Environments, (PEACE), will hold their first official fundraiser. Please join them for a silent art auction on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the community room of the Mission Valley Aquatics Center. POLSON — A benefit dinner and silent auction will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Polson VFW for Becky Cooper, a longtime waitress at Regatta Pizza who is fighting stage four colon rectal cancer. Because Becky is a huge football fan, people are asked to come wearing Becky’s favorite Pittsburgh Steelers’ colors — yellow and black — or any NFL team jersey or colors.

Organizers are also seeking donation items for the silent auction.

All proceeds will go to Becky’s medical expenses.

POLSON — Rob Turner, president of the Polson Chamber of Commerce, will report on the “State of the Polson Chamber of Commerce” at the Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The group meets at the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road, Polson. The business meeting starts at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in hearing about Polson’s economic news and economic challenges is cordially invited to attend the meeting.

POLSON — St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will have a yard sale on Friday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 110 Sixth Ave. The sale will feature furniture and gently used holiday items. Other used items will be available as well.
