Book signing planned at Lutheran Church
POLSON — A book signing of Breathing Holes II by Pastor Marty Kaarre at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church will take place on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. Dessert, coffee, tea and juice will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Free spaghetti dinner served
POLSON — A free dinner will be served at Polson Presbyterian Church on Oct. 14 from 5-6:30 p.m. We will serve a spaghetti dinner with garlic bread, tossed salad and dessert. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us. This dinner is free and open to all.
Hertz to address Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — The cost of Public Law 280, as well as state budgetary and revenue issues will be the focus of the Friday, Oct. 14, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club set for noon at the Polson Rural Fire Department meeting room on Regatta Road. Featured speaker will be Montana Representative Greg Hertz who will review the provisions of Public Law 280, an agreement that requires Lake County to prosecute felonies committed by tribal members in Lake County. He will also discuss infrastructure funding, meth and opioid addiction problems, and property and income tax issues. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Second ‘Souptober Tailgate’ event planned
POLSON — Don’t feel like cooking? Join PEACE for our second annual Souptober Tailgate event in the New Life Church parking lot before the Pirate football game on Oct. 14. The event is from 5:30-7 p.m. and the cost is $5 per person or $20 per family. All proceeds go towards the education of teenagers on the issue of teen dating abuse. Search and Rescue serves potluck, open house
POLSON — Lake County Search and Rescue will hold an open house on Oct. 15, 2016, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. This event will be held at the new Search and Rescue Building located at 901 Main Street. We will serve hot dogs and a potluck lunch for all. Interactive stations will be set up for each specialty component that makes up this unique team of community volunteers. LCSAR volunteers give over 2,000 hours per year for searches and training. Please join us for a fun filled day for the entire family.

Benefit held to help local fight cancer
POLSON — A benefit breakfast and auction will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Polson Elks Lodge, 512 Main Street. This benefit is to support Kathy Devlin-Collicott in her fight against cancer. A breakfast of biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and egg bake, hash-brown casserole, fruit and beverage is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four. There will also be a silent auction, a quilt raffle, a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle. Port Polson Inn is accepting donations for the silent auction. POLSON — The Polson Indian Education Committee’s monthly meeting is on Oct. 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Linderman School gym. Dinner will be served from 5:30–6 p.m. Meeting starts at 6 p.m. Election of officers will take place with all seats available. Childcare will be provided. Come learn about what the Indian Education Committee does, about JOM Funds and about Title 6. Colon health topic at Kiwanis Club meeting
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the Kwa-TaqNuk Resort, in the Koostatah Room from noon to 1 p.m. Join us Oct. 20 when our guest speakers will be Heidi Sturm and Dr. Phillip Jasse, gastroenterologist. They are with Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Polson. They will speak about colon health, preventative heath and the services they offer. Everyone is welcome.
SPLASH at Ridgewater Clinic
POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce October SPLASH will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Luke Community Clinic Ridgewater, 107 Ridgewater Drive. The event will be held from 5-7 p.m. and will celebrate the opening of this new Polson medical facility.
The monthly Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour offers participants the chance to network and learn more about a featured business every month.
