Birthday cake, ice cream to be served at next dance
POLSON — Thanks for the wonderful support we’ve had at the community dances. Our next dance is on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 7:30-10:30 p.m. The goodies have been excellent and welcome. We are celebrating a birthday on Sept. 19, so cake and ice cream will be served. No treats are need for that evening’s dance. Ken’s Country Combo will be playing their superb tunes at the Elks. Hope to see you there.

Help celebrate revamped shooting range
POLSON — On Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Polson Shooters Association will hold an open house at the newly revamped range at 38386 Kerr Dam Road. All hunters and gun enthusiasts are invited to come out and see our new improved facility. This is a free day to sight in your rifles before the beginning of the hunting season.
We will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs at lunchtime. There will be range officers and vendors to discuss any issues you may have with your rifles or handguns.

Breakfast, bake sale to help with Basler medical expenses
POLSON — Knights of Columbus and Polson Catholic Christian Women will host a free will offering breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m.-noon at Immaculate Conception Church. Proceeds will be given to Debbie Basler for medical expenses. Plan on joining us to support a great cause and have a delicious breakfast.

Ridgewater Complex to be site of gubernatorial fundraiser
POLSON — Please join us to meet with gubernatorial candidate Rick Hill at Ridgewater Office Complex, 145 Southlake Crest. This fundraising reception hosted by Dale Gillespie, Mike Maddy, Sen. Carmine Mowbray, Jim and Joanne Simpson, John Cowan, Jack and Susan Lake, Ron and Kathi Normandeau, takes place Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Stivers to share Kenya, Tanzania experiences
POLSON — Jack Stivers, Lake County Extension Agent, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, Sept. 28, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club to be held at the Rural Fire Dept. building on Airport Road west of the bridge in Polson. The business meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m.
Stivers will share his experiences from a summer trip to Kenya and Tanzania where he volunteered at an orphanage and on the orphanage farm. He then went on a safari in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
He is an Associate Professor with a master’s degree in animal science from Montana State University and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Colorado State University.
Pachyderm meetings begin with a social time at 11:30 a.m.; attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. Anyone with an interest in learning is welcome to attend the meeting.

Fall Festival Dance supplies great music, food, fun
POLSON — The Montecahto Club will host a Fall Festival Dance at the clubhouse, Highway 35, mile marker six, south of the firehouse, on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 7-10 p.m. KC and the Valley Kats will provide great jazz and swing music. Bring a snack to share and BYOB, two-drink limit, please. Come and enjoy the fun. There is no admission charge but donations are gladly accepted. All are welcome.
Golf tournament fundraiser for new Salish Point dock
POLSON — The second annual Salish Point Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Polson Bay Golf Course with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. It will be a four-person, 18-hole scramble with prizes for longest drive, longest putt, hole-in-one, closest-to-the-pin and more. Entry fees are $200 per team, which includes green fees and lunch. This is a fundraiser for the new Salish Point dock so call Polson Bay Golf Course at (406) 883-8230, to register.
Taste older to younger wine
DAYTON — The Mission Mountain Winery will be hosting a free vertical tasting of their Pinot Noir on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10-5 p.m. This is a presentation of wine from older to younger vintages allowing one to see the effects of time upon a wine from the same place. Meeting set for 4x4 enthusiasts
POLSON — Four-wheel drive enthusiasts and those interested in family oriented outdoor recreation using 4x4 vehicles, are invited to the Skyliners 4-wheel drive club meetings and trail rides. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Polson VFW, at 7 p.m. Our next meeting is Oct. 2.
