POLSON — CSKT-TSSD Circle of Trust, Partners in Suicide Prevention and Intervention will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the third floor Tribal Health Building conference room from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. New staff will be introduced. Old World Deli will provide lunch.

POLSON – On Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. the Lake County Republican Central Committee will meet in the sheriff’s conference room in the Polson Rural Fire Dept. building. POLSON – It is the fifth Wednesday of the month and Ken’s Country Combo will play from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks Club. Come join the dancing and bringing treats to share will be appreciated.

POLSON – A climate change update by Ceth Eslick will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s evening program on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. 

POLSON –– The Sandpiper Gallery presents the “Fire Within Us” from Aug. 24-Oct. 3. This exhibit features artists Susan Evans (mobiles and calligraphy), Joe Girsch (photography), Jane Goffe (photography), Brigitte Howard (mixed media textiles), Karla Martinsen (2D and 3D paintings), and Rachel Phelps (grass weaving).

POLSON — The Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTukNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Our speaker on Oct. 1 will be Billie Lee who was in an envoy from The Mansfield Center to Thailand. She will talk about her experience working with tribal elders and the economic development in the small communities of Thailand.

POLSON — On Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in Murdoch’s parking lot the annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off will take place. There will be 25-cent hamburgers and sodas for sale with all proceeds going to Mission Valley Mariners Baseball. The first annual Ranch Hand Competition (a timed obstacle course) will take place, as well as free knife sharpening and a drawing for a Traeger Pellet grill (value $700). There will also be kids' activities from the Boys and Girls Club. Come see if the pumpkin weight record gets broken.

POLSON — Two-time Grammy winner Billy Peterson from “Minnesota’s First Family of Music,” will performing a special concert at the Finley Point Grill on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7-10 p.m. Admission is free; call 406-887-2020, for reservations. POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center will hold their fourth annual Pinkalicious Ladies Night Out event on Monday, Oct. 5, from 4-7 p.m., at St. Joe’s Hospital. Call 406-883-8402 to reserve a spot for a free mammogram for uninsured women. 

POLSON — Ken’s Country Combo will play on Oct. 7, the first Wednesday of the new month, from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks. We had a good turn out last week. Join us.

POLSON — The Polson Rural Fire Board has rescheduled their meeting to Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station, 25 Regatta Road.

POLSON — Miracle of America Museum’s “Night at the Museum,” on Thursday, Oct. 8, will feature “The World’s Fastest Indian,” a feature-length movie followed by a tour of the rare Indian motorcycles in the MOAM collection. POLSON — The Masumola Club will hold an Oktoberfest on Thursday, Oct. 8. Guest speaker will be Gene Johnson, son of Marie Johnson and brother to members Helen McClellan and Lillian Stephenson. Marie fled Russia and settled in this area in the early part of the last century.  It’s an amazing story. The Masumola clubhouse sits on land donated by the Johnson family. If your last name ends in A-H bring a hot dish, thematic if you like; I-P a salad; Q-Z a dessert. Doug Wold reminds us to bring our own beer.

POLSON — Dr. Richard D. Erb, professor of economics at University of Montana and former U.S. Director on the International Monetary Fund Executive Board, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, Oct. 9, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. He will answer the question, “Is the U.S. under economic attack from other world powers?” This subject is of huge relevance as we choose our leaders in the 2016 election. Pachyderms meet in the Polson Rural Fire Hall near the fairgrounds with a social time at 11:30 a.m. and a meeting from noon - 1 p.m.

POLSON — The reception for Sandpiper Art Gallery’s show “Driven to Abstraction,” will be held on Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m.

POLSON – Thyme for Herbs meeting takes place on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room. 

The topic for the meeting will be: “What Ingredients to Avoid.” The discussion will include: preparing the herb garden for winter, harvesting seed, and preparing for the viruses of winter. POLSON — The Lake County Job Service Employer Committee October meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at the Polson School District Office, 111 Fourth Ave E. Mayor Heather Knutson will be presenting, so don’t miss the meeting.
