ACT meets, sets 2017 agenda
POLSON — The Lake County Chapter of ACT for America will meet and set its 2017 agenda on Monday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk. A brief video from founder Brigitte Gabriel will be shown pointing out the current challenges to strengthen our national security and to keep our state and country safe from the threat of radical Islam. The public is invited and input from all interested citizens is encouraged.

Meeting set to discuss Public Law 280
POLSON — Lake County Commissioners will hold a public meeting about Public Law 280 at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11 in room 211 of the Lake County Court house. The public will hear both sides of the financial issues surrounding the federal law that defines criminal jurisdiction of Tribal members within the reservation boundaries, and a resolution of intent to withdraw from the agreement.

Pachyderms invite Judge Christopher to speak
POLSON — The Lake County Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, Jan. 13, at noon in the Rural Polson Fire Department building on Regatta Road in Polson. District Judge Kim Christopher will be the featured speaker. She will explain the need for a separate criminal justice building. She is expected to share courtroom examples of potentially explosive situations where feuding family members needed to be separated by deputy sheriffs. Anyone wishing to be informed on this issue is cordially invited to attend the meeting.

‘Youth Mental Health First Aid’ class offered
POLSON — A “Youth Mental Health First Aid” Class will be given at Polson Foursquare Church on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
This free 8-hour training teaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of mental illness in a crisis, and connect them with appropriate professional, peer, social, or self-help care. To register for the class, call 406-300-7011 or 406-261-8723.
