POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday each month at KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah Room from noon to 1 p.m. Our guest speaker on Jan. 7 will be Morgan Hahn from Navigator Travel who will host a nine-day trip to Ireland in June 2016. If the snow has you blue, come and hear Morgan talk about this educational trip to Ireland; land of lakes, hills of green, the ruins of towers, keeps, castles and abbeys, Cliffs of Moher and much, much more. 

POLSON — Bill Barron, who is starting his seventh year serving as Lake County Commissioner, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, Jan. 8, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club.

He will give a recap of the challenges and solutions Lake County government has dealt with during the past year. He also will outline some of the issues he foresees in the months ahead. For example: How to provide county services now that tax revenue has been significantly reduced.

Anyone interested in learning about our government and important issues are always welcome at Pachyderm meetings held the second and fourth Fridays of the month in the meeting room of the Polson Rural Fire Department on Regatta Road near the Polson fairgrounds. Social time is from 11:30 a.m.-noon and our meetings are from noon-1 p.m.

POLSON — The January Friendship Table Dinner is coming up on Jan. 11 from 5-6:30 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us. This dinner is free and open to all.

POLSON — The next Polson School Board meeting will take place on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the Polson District office, 111 Fourth Ave. E. 

POLSON — Attorney Doug Wold, a recognized authority on Sharia Law, will speak at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, at the Polson Red Lion. His title is one that all citizens must take seriously, “Will You Let Sharia Law Replace Our Constitution?” For more information, call 406-849-5167.

POLSON — The Lake County Job Service Executive Committee general meeting for January will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at First Interstate Bank in Polson. Lyn Hellegaard, executive director of Missoula Ravalli Transportation Management Association and Montana Transit Association, will discuss the findings of a transportation study that identifies local needs, transit service provider coordination and barriers, and a new voucher program.

In her 16 years in transportation, she’s helped develop tribal transportation, assisted regional providers to obtain financial and technical assistance, worked on veteran transportation issues and collaborated to pass legislation favorable to Montana.

POLSON – Who doesn’t like rubber duckies? The January Parents as Teachers Community Connection will be all about rubber duckies. Open to the public, this fun event will include snacks, rubber duckie races and storytime. Kids will be able to take a book home with them too. POLSON – A Resource Roundtable will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at noon. Our meeting will include new ideas, new opportunities, and some surprises for the New Year. Come join the conversation at the Lake County Health Department Conference Room. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to help us with the meal count.

POLSON — Come out and support the Polson Pirate Wrestlers for a meet at the Polson High School Gymnasium on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. against Columbia Falls. This is the Pirate Wrestlers last home meet.

POLSON — Come to the Masumola Club Winterfest on Thursday, Jan. 14. Social hour starts at 5:45 p.m. and dinner will commence around 6:30 p.m. Hosts will provide sloppy Joes, buns, beer and ice. Please bring a dish to share. Suggested food distribution is: A-H: “Favorite” Super Bowl appetizer; 

I-O: salad or side dish; 

P-Z: dessert.
