Pablo churches to sponsor harvest party, carnival
PABLO — A harvest party is planned for Oct. 31 at the Pablo Elementary School from 5:30-7 p.m. It will feature a carnival, fun, games and treats for everyone. There is no admission charge. Both the Pablo Baptist and the Pablo Nazarene Churches are sponsoring this event.

Award-winning poet to give reading
PABLO — A poetry reading and book signing by acclaimed Inuit poet, (and SKC alum) will take place at SKC Johnny Arlee and Victor Charlo Theater on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 12-1 p.m. Poet, dg nanouk okpik, is Inupiaq, Inuit, originally from Alaska’s arctic slope and will read from her book, “Corpse Whale.” She is a recipient of a Truman Capote Fellowship.

Gender violence prevention expert to speak
PABLO — Dr. Jackson Katz, who is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in gender violence prevention education in schools, sports culture and the military, as well as for his pioneering work in critical media literacy, will be speaking in Lake County and the Flathead Reservation on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Thanks to a grant from Verizon, DOVES is bringing Dr. Katz for an invitation-only men’s leadership breakfast in the morning, followed by a public multi-media presentation, “More Than a Few Good Men: Strategies for Inspiring Men and Boys to be Allies in Gender Violence Prevention,” at the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theater on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo at 11:30 a.m. A light lunch will be served in the theater lobby at 11 a.m.
