Speaker to address Indian trans-racial adoption
PABLO — Susan Devan Harness, M.A., will give a lecture titled, “American Indian Trans-racial Adoption, an Assault on Indigenous Cultures,” from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theatre on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo.
Harness is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, as well as an American Indian trans-racial adoptee. Her master’s research in cultural anthropology at Colorado State University examined issues and outcomes of American Indian trans-racial adoption. Harness is currently a field director for the Tri-Ethnic Center for Prevention Research at Colorado State University.

Democrats invite all to fall social
PABLO — The Lake County Democrats cordially invite the public to our autumn desserts social to hear speeches from all of our local candidates on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Salish Kootenai College. You will hear Nancy Lindsey for Senate District 6, Roderick Brosten for House District 9, Luke Walawander for House District 12 and Frosty Boss Calf Ribs for House District 15.
Tickets will be available at the door for $15. Rifle Raffle tickets will also be for sale, one for $5 or five for $20. Come one; come all for this festive event. Any questions, please call Sheila at 883-1516.

Movie screened at SKC
PABLO — Salish Kootenai College Media/KSKC-TV is sponsoring the screening of the film “Occupied Cascadia” at the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theatre in Pablo on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 pm.
