POLSON – The Polson Lady Pirate soccer team was tested this past week after taking on three talented soccer teams. On Tuesday, the Lady Pirates took on Whitefish at home, who struck fast and often to down Polson 6-0.
Lady Bulldog Natalie Gayner had a big afternoon for her team, scoring five goals to pace her team.
For Polson, Monica Cleveland had 15 stops for her team.
The Lady Pirates bounced back from their loss to Whitefish when they played Libby away on Thursday, winning 3-1.
Sarah Howell got the ball rolling for Polson, scoring the first goal for her team during the 20 minute mark. It didn’t take long for the Lady Pirates to strike again, as Sara Robinson added another point with her 29 minute mark score.
Annie Venters had three shots on the goal, bringing the Lady Pirate point total to 3 in the game after scoring a penalty kick.
“Madeline Hewston had another great game,” head coach Michael Hewston said. “She was able to move the ball forward at will. Although she was unable to find the goal she set up the goals.”
Hewston added it was good to see his team play a 80-minute game, and was pleased to see positive team play, and good formation.
The Pirates continued their busy schedule on Saturday as they hosted Belgrade.
The Panthers started strong to build a quick lead that never dwindled, as Belgrade won big, 10-2.
The Lady Pirates’ scored early, as Sarah Howell knocked in a point at the six minute mark, with the next score coming at the 49 minute mark by Keely Clairmont.
The Panthers were paced by Shelby Erdahl, who scored four goals and added two assists, while Annie Prickett had a goal and two assists.
