POLSON — Gil Mangels conducted a tour of vintage vehicles previously owned by Glacier National Park to kick off a birthday party for GNP’s centennial. The tour started at about 6:30 p.m.
Then Ranger Kass Hardy, Centennial Coordinator, spoke about the centennial. Mangels presented a program on the artifacts and memorabilia on loan to the Miracle of America Museum from GNP. A crowd of about 60 people attended the party and listened to Polson crooner Neal Lewing sing the Glacier song, which all rangers used to have to sing. Lewing also sang “Montana,” the Polson song, some of his own material and some 1910 tunes.
The evening ended with a cake, it was a birthday party after all, decorated with a frosting rendition of a Glacier Park scene.
