City council passes fireworks ordinance

RONAN — The Ronan City Council last week passed an ordinance that would limit the hours fireworks can be set off within the city.
Under the ordinance detonation of fireworks are allowed June 24 until July 2 from 8 a.m. until the town’s curfew. The curfew is 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
On July 3 and 4 fireworks will be permitted from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m.
On July 5, fireworks are allowed until 10 p.m., under the ordinance. Displays made in celebration of New Year’s will also be limited.
On Dec. 29 and 30 fireworks will be allowed from 8 a.m. until curfew.
On Dec. 31, displays will be allowed from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m.
The consequences for violating the ordinance is a written first warning, $85 fine for a second offense, and $500 fine for a third offense.
