POLSON — Lake County Master Gardeners contributed to a flower display for the second year in a row at the Port Polson Players theatre on Flathead lake.
The Lake County Master Gardeners are a volunteer group that have received horticulture training through an eight-week education course designed by Montana State University Lake County Extension Office covering botany, plant physiology, soils, floriculture, vegetables, plant diseases, entomology, pest management, turf grass management, weed identification and landscape design. With the mission of extending knowledge on all of these topics through various programs and activities to interested citizens of Lake County, each year Master Gardeners select a group project that will benefit and beautify a public area for residents to enjoy.
Last year feedback from theatre-goers was overwhelming, according to Extension Agent Jack Stivers, “so we decided to share the fruits of our labors with the Port Polson Players once again.”
Each of the 300 plants were started from seed, and grown in the greenhouse at Ronan High School.
