POLSON — WWII veteran Ormand Eastman, 87 of Polson, was honored to be on the final Big Sky Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on Mother’s Day, May 11. Eastman, who traveled to visit the memorials with his son-in-law Jeff Hunter, was only 18 years old when he joined the Navy in 1944 as a mine sweeper on a destroyer.
Honor Flight recognizes veterans and provides, with no cost to the veteran, a chance to see the WWII memorial and other war memorials.
