News from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office

POLSON — A Tribal detention officer has been released from the hospital after sustaining significant injuries sustained when an inmate at the Tribal Detention Center attacked him on Thursday afternoon.

The assault, which occurred around 12:45 p.m. on May 22, was captured on jail security cameras, and resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Eugene M. Seyler, of Pablo.  Seyler was being held at the Tribal jail on a public nuisance charge from earlier that morning. The assault ended when another inmate at the facility got control of Seyler and alerted authorities at the facility.

Seyler is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $150,000 bond. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault on a Peace Officer, both felonies.

Seyler was previously charged with deliberate homicide in December 2013 for allegedly stabbing a neighbor in Ronan.
