State: Pirates take it to top three

BILLINGS – The Pirates and Lady Pirates competed at the tennis State tournament Friday and Saturday with the boys bringing their court game to the semifinals. Brady Hislop and doubles team Dylan McCrumb/Lane Zimmerman both placed third, continuing Hislop and McCrumb’s top-three streak. Last season McCrumb placed second and Hislop placed third at State. The Pirates finished fourth overall as a team with a score of 20, sharing that spot with Glendive.
The Lady Pirates did not advance to the semifinals and placed seventh overall with a team score of 3, tied with Anaconda.

Third place – Hislop (Pol) def. AlmaPowell (Cor) 6-2, 6-4.
Championship – Miller (Hav) def. Pekoc (Cor) 3-6, 7-5, 2-3 (default).
Doubles
Semifinals – John Knisely/Harrison Fagg (BC) def. Ned Malone/Brian Smith (Hav) 6-0, 6-3; Dennis Berg/Gavin McPherson (GD) def. Tommy Pankratz, Jake Newbury (BC) 7-6 (4), 6-1.
