Broken records: middle schools athletes coming on strong

KALISPELL — Ronan Middle School track and field athletes knocked records off the wall at the Kalispell Middle School Invitational meet Saturday, May 24.
Micalann McCrea, 8th grade, shattered three records. In the 100-meter hurdles, she crossed the finish line in 13 seconds, jumped 32-2.5 in the triple jump and joined teammates Penni Weyant, Saccora Reum and Teagan Gray in the 4x100 relay with a time of 55.43.
Boys in both 7th and 8th grade 4x100 relay teams also broke school records; 8th graders Happy Cheff, Casey Resch, Zeke Misa, Kade Schutzman (48:32) and 7th grade team Noah Cheff, Dallas Durheim, Koby Garcia, Kuba Detwiler (51.90).
Noah Cheff raced past the 200 meter hurdles record (29.96) and Resch smashed the 100 meter hurdles record (11.85).
Nate Dennis, Zeke Misa, Brendon Blood and Kade Schutzman also set a new 4x400 relay time of 3:59.61 for 8th grade boys.
