Mission-Charlo earns 14th at Choteau, Arlee 15th

CHOTEAU - Mission-Charlo and Arlee's wrestlers were in action over the weekend as the Bulldogs and Warriors were at the Choteau Classic.
The Bulldogs were able to earn a 14th-place finish at the event with 60 points while Arlee was 15th with 49.5 points.
Arlee's Cole Rice came away with the individual title in the 145-pound division, pinning all three of his opponents at the tournament. Rice was able to pin his first two opponents in a combined 76 seconds. Rice pinned Cascade-Simms wrestler Lathan Crossland in 5:29 in the championship.
Mission-Charlo's Scotty Gilleard finished third in the 130-pound division with a pin of Cascade-Simms wrestler Nick Keen in 4:59.
Gilleard opened the tournament with a pin of Plains-Hot Springs wrestler Ted Beech in the second round Friday and followed that up with a 7-6 decision over Shepherd's Ty Seader in the quarterfinals.
Mission-Charlo had a pair of sixth-place finishers as Dillon Edwards and Colton Toren both fell in their fifth-place matchups. Edwards fell via a 16-0 tech fall to Malta's Joe Rappold while Toren suffered a 12-4 major decision loss to Big Sandy's Ryan Miller.
Edwards opened the tournament with a 33-second pin of Chinook's Austen Conner in the second round Friday before pinning Harlem's Gus Taylor in 3:44 in the quarterfinals.
Toren also fell in the second round as he was pinned by Big Sandy's Miller in 4:39.
Both teams saw their heavyweight wrestlers fall in the opening round Friday as Mission-Charlo's Pete Dumont was pinned by Whitehall's Gabe Hall in 5:49 while Arlee's Cody North was pinned by Clancy Spurlock of Townsend in 1:39.
Edwards, Morgan Schultz, Gilleard, James Wightman and Jacen Peterson all picked up wins for Mission-Charlo in the second round Friday while Cameron Dominick, Rice, Albert Plant and Curt Seidel got wins for Arlee.
The two teams will see their seasons continue Tuesday as Mission-Charlo travels to Arlee to face the Warriors. Mission-Charlo will be at Noxon Friday before competing in the Ted Kato Tournament in Thompson Falls Saturday.
Arlee will be at Darby Thursday before also competing in the Ted Kato Tournament during the weekend.
