Valley girls dominate Big Sky Small Schools meet

MISSOULA – Several athletes from the Ronan, Arlee, and Charlo girls’ teams made their mark in the top spots at the Big Sky Small Schools meet on Friday. Scarlet Becca Whitesell took home the gold in the 1,600 meter, finishing in first place and Maiden Aspen Jore came home with a first place in javelin, throwing 118-1. Jore also placed third in shot put and fourth in discus. Finishing in second were Scarlet Jessica Knoll in both the 400m and the 800m and Maidens Ashley McCready (1600) and Lee Camel in the triple jump. Third place went to Lady Vikings Aspen Runkel (200m) and Jordan Ludeman (pole vault) and Maiden Alicia Camel (discus). Coming in at number four were Lady Vikings Shayna Nagy (400m), Madison Foust (800m), Sierra Ragen (1600), Cheyenne Nagy (300 hurdles) and Mackenzie Foust (javelin). Rounding out the fourth place finishers are Scarlet Carly Hergett (high jump) and Maiden Ally Buhr (pole vault). The Charlo girls relay teams took second in the 400 and third in the 1,600 relays and Maidens grabbed fourth in the 1,600 relay.

For the boys, Chief Lucas Gerhardt was the only boy out of the valley teams to take first. Gerhardt threw 50-1 to take first in shot put. Second places went to Vikings Connor Daugherty (800m), Manual Ammann (3200), Michael Delaney (300 hurdles) and Jacen Peterson in pole vault. Third places include Vikings Jade Smith (400m), Trent Dennison (800m), Manual Ammann (1600), Warrior Harold Yokum (110 hurdles) and Chief Cole Gerhardt (discus). Finishing in fourth were Vikings Tyler Delaney (400m) and Kyle Couture (pole vault). Charlo’s Vikings took second in both the 400 and 1,600 relays.

All three teams will compete in Missoula May 10.
