Bulldogs survive overtime against Thompson Falls, Lady Bulldogs win 2

Mission's basketball teams had a strong week as the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs combined to pick up four wins.
The Bulldogs survived a late-game surge to pick up an overtime win at Thompson falls Saturday. Mission trailed 24-19 at halftime but used an 18-7 third-quarter run to grab a 37-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Bluehawks answered with a 13-6 fourth-quarter surge to knot the game at 44 at the end of regulation. The Bulldogs defense dominated the overtime, holding Thompson Falls to a single point as Mission pulled out a 51-45 victory.
Stuart Grant led the Bulldogs with 18 points in the win while Austin McDonald added 14. Thompson Falls was led by Chalis Wilson with 24 points.
The Bulldogs also picked up a win at home Thursday evening as Mission downed Plains, 52-35.
Mission led 9-5 after one quarter of play before Plains was able to cut the lead to 16-14 at the half. The game continued to be close in the third quarter as the Bulldogs took a 33-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Mission pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring the Horsemen 19-7 to pick up the win.
Durglo's 14 points led the Bulldogs in the win while Grant, and Durglo each added nine.
With the wins, the Bulldogs improve to 2-3 in district play and 5-5 overall.
Kyla Mitchell scored a season-high 23 points Saturday as the Lady Bulldogs picked up a 47-31 win over visiting Thompson Falls.
Mitchell scored 12 of Mission's 13 points in the opening quarter, but Thompson Falls led 14-13 after eight minutes of play. Thompson Falls continued to lead at the half, 19-17, but Mitchell scored nine in the third to help spark an 18-5 run that put Mission up 35-24 heading into the fourth quarter. Mission continued to pull away in the final eight minutes to get the win.
Along with Mitchell's 23, Ashley Courville added eight points, Stephanie Lewandowski scored seven, Cecelia Koskela had three points and Loren Erickson, Bryanna Steele and Donilyn Rossbach each scored two.
Mitchell also led Mission with 19 points Thursday as the Bulldogs pulled out a 34-32 win over Plains.
Mission trailed 19-12 at the half before using a 14-8 third-quarter run to cut the Trotter lead to 27-26 heading into the final eight minutes. Mission was able to outscore Plains 8-5 in the fourth to pick up the win.
With the wins, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 4-1 in district and 8-2 overall.
Both teams are back in action Thursday as they play at Ronan. The Lady Bulldogs will also be in action Monday as they play at Arlee.
