Polson weathers rough day in Missoula

MISSOULA – The Pirates and Lady Pirates toughed out Saturday at the Missoula County Public Schools Invitational, finishing on the low end of the brackets. The boys took 13th out of 14 as a team with a score of 18. The girls placed 11th out 13 with a score of 15.5. While only one Pirate placed top four individually, the Lady Pirates relay team grabbed a four spot in the 1,600. The boys took fifth in the 400 relay.
Pirate Jacob Clairmont faired the best for his team, taking fourth in the long jump landing 19-10.5. Clairmont also took sixth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the 100 hurdles. Senior Tel Motichka came away with seventh in the 800 meter.
Lady Pirate Claudia Hewston cleared 9 feet in the pole vault for a fifth place finish and also grabbed eighth in the 800 meter. Senior Amanda Harrod threw 97-22 in the discus, giving her a seventh place finish.
Polson will compete at the Top Ten Tournament in Missoula April 29.
