Maidens tear up competition in opening weak

DEER LODGE – The Maidens played tough in their first week of games and grabbed two wins. In Deer Lodge on Tuesday the Maidens squeaked by the Lady Wardens 9-8, punching out extra inning play thanks to a big hit off of McKenzie Dulmes’ bat that brought in the winning run. Alaina Madsen went all eight innings in the circle, striking out 10. Maiden Kendra Starkel went 3-4 at the plate with a double.
Saturday in Mission the Maidens dominated the combo Mission-Charlo-Arlee team, known as MAC, 16-7. Madsen pitched a complete game and picked up the win. Madsen was hot at the plate as well, snagging a couple of RBIs with a single and a double.
The Maidens will host Loyola-Sacred Heart April 10 and then head to Florence April 12. On April 15 the Maidens will return to their home field to challenge Plains.
