DIXON — Isn’t it great to finally make it to April? Who minds the showers, (it’s supposed to happen)? Though I always wait for that last big snow blast, I know it won’t last long. We gardeners are checking eagerly to see what’s come up after winter’s sleep. Happily, I found one crocus and plenty of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, grape hyacinths and amazingly my faithful bleeding heart is pushing through for the 13th year. One new wildlife animal was seen for the first time, a red squirrel scurried across the deck. Why, after all these years? Last year the chipmunks invaded and so far I’ve only seen just one. This morning it looked right in my deck window, as if wondering, “Where is the cat that chased me all last summer?”
Our little community recently celebrated the life and love of one of our beloved seniors, Faye Pitts. It was a warm and comforting memorial service at the Dixon School gym, where Faye and Gene had spent much time supporting their family. She was a special lady who brightened anywhere she was. She is missed.
Joyce Siers, who recently moved to Columbia Falls, was a welcome visitor recently. She looked lovely and was happy to be in the center again. Friends of Joey and Harley Hettick also visited for dinner. Drew Imes and wife Kaileen traveled from Williston, N.D.
This is a good place to bring company for dinner, close by and the price is great. Did you know the center is for rent if you have a special event? Showers, receptions, memorial dinners, etc., have all been celebrated here. Marie Ardis just hosted a big family gathering to celebrate six anniversaries, from 25-50 years. Call Delene Tuffly when the center is open at (406) 246-3310, or (406) 246-3271, for more information.
