CHARLO — It’s time for spring, and for the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana to open its doors for the 2014 season on Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. A new photo exhibit in the museum, “Images From the Past: Women in Our World,” celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Montana. Jeannette Rankin of Missoula was a key leader in the effort, and in 1916 she was elected as the first female to the U.S. Congress.
Women have always been an integral part of history, often without acknowledgement for their roles. This exhibit honors the strength and vision of women in the early west leading their ordinary lives, and improving the lives of those who came after them.
Mark your calendar to tune in to Reflections West, “a little radio program about the literature, history and culture of the American West.” An upcoming episode on March 25-27 will feature Bud Cheff Jr. The episode will be broadcast on Montana Public Radio 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25; and 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 26. It will also air 7:01 p.m. Thursday, March 27 on Yellowstone Public Radio.
The museum and gift shop will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. We look forward to seeing you visit us this year. Please call (406) 644-3435 to schedule your group tours.
