BUTTE – The Warriors mounted a huge come-back after falling in their first game, grabbing three victories and taking third at the Western C Divisional Tournament in Butte.
In Thursday’s opener the Warriors took a 61-77 loss against Manhattan Christian. Warrior Josh Reed led both teams in points with 20 and doubled himself up with 10 rebounds.
Friday the Warriors put their opening loss in the past and started fresh with a big win against Hot Springs, 66-54. Reed again led the Warriors with 20 points while Patrick BigSam and Tyler Tanner chipped in 15 each.
Reed’s domination on the hardwood continued early Saturday as the Warriors grabbed win number two against Ennis, 54-63, which put them into the position to play for third. Reed netted 25 points for Mission. BigSam and Justis Haynes added 13 apiece.
Later on Saturday Arlee defeated Seeley-Swan, 60-41, to take their third place Divisional podium spot. Trailing by two points at halftime, the Warriors busted out a commanding lead in the third. Reed put up 21 points for the Warriors, reaching 20 plus points in all four tournament games. Tyler Tanner pitched in 18.
The Warriors vied for a spot in the State Tournament next weekend by first challenging Drummond on Monday. Results of that game were not available at press time.
