KALISPELL – The Lady Pirates gave Polson fans big smiles as they grabbed a couple of wins at the Northwest A Divisional Tournament in Kalispell and came home with third place honors.
On Thursday, the Lady Pirates took on Whitefish for the chance to get their name printed on the divisional bracket. Polson clobbered the Lady Bulldogs, winning the play-in game 48-34. Lauren Lefthand was a big help to her team, netting 13 points. Jessica Bagnell and Skyla Krantz each added 10.
Friday pitted Polson up against old foes and number-one ranked Columbia Falls with the Lady Pirates on the lower side of the scorecard, falling 18-60. Bagnell led the Lady Pirates with 11 points.
In the consolation game on Sunday, the Lady Pirates fought for third place, toppling Libby 35-32 and securing the chance for a challenge game. Nichole Lake came out on top netting 10 points. Bagnell and Krantz chipped in eight apiece.
The Lady Pirates still had a shot at the “big show” to win their spot at State, but first had to win a challenge game against Frenchtown scheduled for Monday, Mar. 3, at 6 p.m. at Glacier High School in Kalispell. Results were unavailable at press time.
