Editor,

At the Big Arm Historic School on Saturday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., we will be capturing local history along with having our annual Family Fun Day and barbecue, which is a fundraiser for the Historic School. We invite you to bring old photographs and documents to be scanned and to relate stories that depict what life was like in this area in days gone by.

The Big Arm Association is working with the Touchstone Project managed by the Montana Preservation Alliance who has provided a computer and scanner to digitize and record local memorabilia. The North Lake County Library will also be loaning a printer and giving technical advice. Once historic items and stories have been copied and recorded, we will start the application process of including many of them in the Montana Memory Project at the Montana State Library in Helena.

At the Big Arm School, we are very interested in Big Arm, Elmo, Dayton and Proctor information, as these Big Arm bay towns were once so dependent on each other; however, the Montana Memory Project is also interested in the surrounding towns such as Polson and Rollins, as their stories and photographs help depict life in the past.

For more information, please call Alison at 849-6628, or bring your family memorabilia to the Historic Big Arm School on Saturday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school is located on Seventh Street in Big Arm.
