POLSON — Wyatt Lytton, an eighth-grader at Polson Middle School, was named the National High School Rodeo Association Junior Division Athlete of the Month. The program, which has more than 2,500 members competing, rewards one girl and one boy each month with a Professional’s Choice Air Ride Saddle Pad and qualifies each monthly winner for two $1,000 scholarships to be awarded at the end of the rodeo season.
Lytton, who lives in Polson, has qualified to represent the Montana team nationally and will be competing in Gallup, N.M., at the 2010 National Junior High Finals Rodeo June 27-July 3. He’ll compete in the team roping event.
Each summer the best of the best from each state and province of Canada and Australia qualify for the NJHFR. More than 1,000 competitors compete for $75,000 in prizes and $80,000 in scholarships. Lytton’s 4.0 grade point average also qualifies him for the scholarships.
