RONAN — Lucky Strike Lanes will host the Ladies Scratch Classic Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9.
The best women bowlers in Montana, northern Idaho and eastern Washington have been invited to the first-ever open scratch tournament for women, according to Tim Corbett of Lucky Strike Lanes.
Three qualifying shifts will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., 2 and 5 p.m. The top 16 scores will advance to Sunday’s finals, that are eight games of match play. The top five scorers after match play will advance to a TV-style stepladder final.
The tournament will have a guaranteed purse of $4,125. The winner will receive $700 and 16th place is guaranteed $115.
“Guaranteeing prize funds is not typical of bowling tournaments,” Corbett said. “Most prize funds are based on the total number of entries. But we felt in order to get these talented ladies to come to Ronan, they had to know just how much money was available to win.”
Corbett added that he knows “the gals” will put on a great show.
Current sponsors include Lucky Strike Lanes, Glacier Wholesalers of Kalispell, Farmer Bros. Coffee and Pepsi Cola of Missoula.
