                Editor,
Anyone want to know what's wrong with Montana schools? The front page of the Sunday Missoulian spelled it out. One school, one teacher, one student — and they have "a mere $83,000 budget." What school in Montana wouldn't love to have $83,000 per student to educate them over the course of one year. In the article, it states local taxpayers pick up $12,771 of that. So who picks up the other $70,229?
We do — the taxpayers in Montana. All over the state, school districts are facing cuts in staff and funding. They're looking at larger class sizes and zero raises. But we're keeping this one-student school open with our tax dollars. She's a lucky kid — a lot luckier than the other students in this state.
