PABLO — No injuries were sustained in a structure fire that engulfed the western side of Plum Creek Mill on Friday night.
Authorities suspect flames from a cutting torch started the fire at about 8 p.m., Ronan Volunteer Fire Chief Mark Clary said.
Salvage crews were using the cutting torch to dismantle the mill in order to sell pieces of the mill to interested parties.
Ronan and Polson Volunteer Fire Departments and ambulance crews responded to the call, and the fire was contained within an hour.
“I would like to thank the ambulance crews,” Clary said. “They were keeping a good eye on our people.”
Clary explained that the emergency medical technicians kept Ronan and Polson firefighters hydrated throughout the emergency response.
