MISSOULA — The Polson and Charlo track and field teams had several top finishers at the Missoula County Public Schools Invitational Saturday.
In perhaps the most impressive performance from a Lake County athlete at the meet, Charlo’s Dawn Blevins launched a first-place javelin toss of 128-7, outdoing runner-up Britney Chilcott of Stevensville (115-4.5) by more than 13 feet. For her efforts, Blevins was honored with the MVP award for ABC field events. Lady Pirate Anna DiGiallonardo took double silver in the 100-meter dash (12.95) and the 200-meter (26.44).
On the boys’ side, Polson’s Riley Sampson was named MVP for ABC field events, while Charlo’s Stephen Delaney received the honor for ABC track events after winning both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Sampson was first in shot put with a 51-1.50 throw.
Charlo’s 400-meter relay team took third, and the Vikings had a pair of top finishers in the pole vault, as Webb O’Neill came in third with a 12-6 vault, and Jacen Petersen was sixth (12-0).
Both teams travel to Corvallis Friday.
