POLSON — Polson Middle School teacher Lee Coble was found not guilty of assault of a minor on Thursday, Nov. 21.
On Wednesday, a jury was selected and all parties heard opening statements. A video of the alleged assault incident was played and the state called Deputy Nate Lundeen, Polson Middle School staff member Barbara Scott, teacher Pamela Beth Obegwagner and teacher Robert DiGiallonardo to the stand to testify.
The court resumed Thursday morning, where the middle-school student was called to the stand. Deputy Nate Lundeen was cross-examined and officer Levi Reed also testified.
After the defendants called Deann Mullaney and Lee Coble to the stand, the final instructions were given to the jury. At 7:15 p.m., the jury reached a unanimous “not guilty” verdict.
According to court documents, the alleged assault occurred Feb. 20. A female middle-school student was walking down the hall when Coble allegedly placed his hands on her neck and directed her toward the lunchroom, at one point allegedly gripping her around the neck with one hand.
