Polson speech team competes in Kalispell

KALISPELL — The Polson Speech team participated in the Western Regionals Speech, Debate, and Drama meet in Kalispell on Nov. 22 and 23. Flathead and Glacier High Schools hosted the competition.

Polson High School fielded 29 competitors for the preliminary rounds.

The top eight placers in each event proceed to the quarterfinals. 

Making it to the semifinals were PHS speakers Jordan Broussard, Serious Oral Interpretation of Literature; Haley Kendley, Expository Speaking; Kylie Koberg, Memorized Public Address; Dominic Rosatti, Impromptu Speaking; and Sharidan Russell, Impromptu and Extemporaneous Speaking.

Only Russell advanced to the final round and earned second in Extemporaneous Speaking.

In team competition, Flathead High School pulled down first place in Class AA speech, and Columbia Falls High School finished in first place in Class A-B-C speech.

Polson’s next meet will be in Libby on Saturday, Dec. 7.

PHS will host its home meet on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the high school and Polson Middle School. Any community member interested in being a judge may contact head coach Jon Petersen at the high school, (406) 883-6351 ext 235.
