BUTTE – In a heart wrenching fashion, the Lady Vikings’ volleyball team dropped both matches in the Western C Divisional Tournament.
“They played good, they played hard,” Head Coach Sheryl Kain said, “just not good enough.”
The Lady Vikings met Harrison-Willow Creek on the court Friday but took a dive leaving their opponents to control the match in the 1-3 game.
Charlo’s Mikaylan Roylance snapped three aces from the serve line and Alyssa Doty logged 23 digs.
In the second game on Friday, the Lady Vikings fell to Philipsburg 0-3 in the loser out game.
“It wasn’t a lack of trying,” Coach Kain said. “They could not have worked harder. They didn’t give up.”
Sienna Miller knocked down nine kills for the Lady Vikings and Aspen Runkel had 19 digs.
Despite the upset, the Lady Vikings have nothing to hang their head about finishing the season with a 17-6 win-loss record. Coach Kain is pleased with their season, including their district win.
With hard work and determination the Lady Vikings came away not only with a hearty winning record, but also a lot of heart.
“I couldn’t have asked any more of them,” Kain said. “They worked their tails off.”
Charlo will participate in the second annual volleyball All Star game Thursday in Mission.
