Valley Christian Academy

POLSON — The Mission Valley Christian Academy Sting soccer season has concluded with the culmination of the Montana Christian Athletics Association State Soccer Tournament last weekend at Stillwater Christian School in Kalispell.

On Thursday the Sting faced a very talented Heritage Christian School team from Bozeman. The boys played hard from start to finish, ultimately falling short by a score of 0-6. Following the game, Coach Randy Adcock had the opportunity to visit with the coaches from Heritage Christian School. They expressed their admiration to him for the team, saying “your guys just never quit coming at us.”

That evening, the MCAA All-Conference selections were named before several hundred in attendance in the Stillwater Christian School gymnasium. Sophomores Nick Windauer and Jake Windauer were both voted first team all conference by the MCAA Soccer coaches.

On Friday the Sting traveled back to Kalispell to face Great Falls Home School. The game was filled with a tremendous amount of emotion for a multitude of reasons; one being it was a loser out game. The Sting came out full of energy and ultimately came away with a resounding 6-3 victory.

The win matched the Sting against the Helena Christian School Rams. “The Rams had already beaten us twice during the course of this soccer season. What an opportunity for us to get yet another shot at them,” Adcock said. “We took a 1-1 tie into halftime thanks in large to the tremendous keeper play of Jake defending our goal. Time and time again Jake fended off bullet shots on goal against us.”

The Sting tried everything they could possibly come up with in the second half, including moving faster athletes back and forth between the offensive and defensive positions.

“It was an inspiring performance. We ultimately fell short on the score by a count of 1-5,” Adcock said.

That evening, the MCAA Schools Christian Character Award was presented to MVCA Sophomore Brady Shipley as he accepted the award for Mission Valley Christian Academy.

A truly remarkable story of Brady’s spiritual maturation unfolded throughout the course of the soccer season and was ultimately recognized through this award, according to Adcock.

Coach Adcock said he was proud of Brady and the rest of the team on their growth and progress this fall.
