RONAN — The Ronan Volunteer Fire Department loosened things up a bit last week, widening its garage doors to accommodate the new, wider trucks.
“The sides of the fire hall have been hit numerous times,” Ronan Fire Chief Mark Clary said. “Sometimes there’s less than an inch on both sides (of the truck.)”
Rody Construction worked on the five garage doors for the majority of last week, and the construction cost approximately $14,000.
Clary said that aesthetically, the front of the fire hall looks better, and he also noted that the brand new doors will speed up the department’s response time. “They all have brand new openers, and we can open and close them from inside the cab,” he added.
